Reef Octopus Bio Pearls are biodegradable pellet polymers that convert waste, mainly nitrate and phosphate into bacteria/ The Bio Pearls allow an aerobic growth of bacteria, which will consequently consume the nitrate and phosphate. The bacteria rely on the carbon from the Bio Pearls, whilst nitrogen and phosphorus are taken from the water as nitrate and (ortho) phosphate. The transformation of organic Bio Pearls into microbial biomass is called immobilization. Bio Pearls are 100% biodegradable and can be placed in a fluidizer or mini filter canister.
